Professor Jeya Henry

Professor Jeya Henry BSc, MSc, PhD is Head of Nutrition and Food Science at Oxford Brookes University. He has followed a distinguished career since graduating from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, with roles at the UK Food Standards Agency, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Asian Development Bank, Unicef and World Health Organisation, among others.

He travels the globe as a consultant, researcher and speaker, yet still finds time to author and edit numerous books and publications, and act as scientific and nutritional advisor to charities, global organisations and the media. He is also Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Food Sciences and Nutrition.

Professor Henry's major research interests include:

• food-nutrient interactions

• obesity

• glycaemic index (GI)

• energy and protein metabolism

• international nutrition 

His research group has been involved with providing GI testing of foods for several food companies worldwide including Tesco. He is passionate about melding the disciplines of food technology and nutrition in order to create novel and traditional foods with enhanced health properties.
